Friday Food Insider: Stonewall Kitchen will again be doing business in the Old Port

Stonewall Kitchen, a specialty food producer based in York, plans to relaunch its retail shop in Portland's Old Port.

The company has leased a 2,327-square-foot space at 215 Commercial St., next to the Black Dog General Store.

Stonewall Kitchen plans to open in the new space by mid-June.

Previously, Stonewall had had a store at 182 Middle St., but moved out in early 2022 to make way for renovation of the building. When the building's owner, Portland-based East Brown Cow, announced renovation plans, it offered ground-floor tenants the option of moving into temporary, alternative space. Those tenants included Stonewall Kitchen, Starbucks and Bangor Savings Bank.

For the Commercial Street location, the lease rate is $65 per square foot, or $12,604 monthly. The deal was brokered by Pete Harrington from Malone Commercial Brokers.

“We are so excited to be back in Portland where we'll have double the space of our previous store,” Stonewall Kitchen said in a social media post.
